I’m not sure why..but I’ve grown very tired.
Weary of listening to these absurd misconceptions about what is a “right” and what is a “privilege” in this country.
Somehow, along the way..we’ve suckered ourselves into believing that the Bill of Rights outlines our only guaranteed rights. It does not. It secures very clearly certain rights in order to keep future governing bodies from abusing their power and for keeping the People in touch with one another, in order to come together in action against oppressive government..should the need arise.
The notion that these Rights are all inclusive..is correct, but definitely has been misinterpreted and basically lied about for decades now.
Driving is NOT a privilege. (Although driving poorly and causing damage or injury almost certainly should be considered a crime.) It is a right..and a freedom secured by the U.S. Constitution to all of us. The right to go freely at will where one wanted was a freedom enjoyed by our Founding Fathers and guaranteed to us upon the signing of our Supreme document of law.
Walking through public lands at will is not a privilege nor a crime. It is a right..secured to us, again by the Constitution.
Being absolutely free to do as we please for so long as it doesn’t infringe upon the freedom of others to do the same..is not optional, nor is it something that can be regulated away by our governing authorities. It can only be spelled out in the Constitution or legislated by the States. And since no future American is around yet to be properly represented, NO FREEDOMS can be taken away from them...not even by the States. Crimes can be defined, but not within any context that doesn't define an infringement of one citizen's rights by another. That is practically the extent of American restriction according to the Constitution.
For instance, speeding is not a crime. Speeding and getting into an accident that causes damage to your vehicle only, is likewise, not a crime. However, speeding and causing damage or injury to another citizen is a crime. This because it infringes upon their freedoms and rights. It's a simple concept.
Realize that for every accident there are 30,000 speeders. More revenue for the state in regulating possibility than actual incidents. But again, the government doesn't have that right. They've assumed it. (West Virginia assumed it to the tune of 200,000 tickets in 2007. Not sure how much they made off of all of those non-incidents at say...$150 a ticket?)
The intention of the Constitution and the formation of a Federal government was quite clear at the time. No one trusted centralize authority then. No one. They’d just freed themselves from the tyranny of a monarchy, they weren’t about to be dictated to, in this new free condition, by a mindless governing body.
However..a nation needs an international identity. And there needed to be a point of contact between all States within the Republic. Not an overriding authority mind you..but simply a figurehead and administration for representing all States Internationally under the common flag of the Republic.
The Federal government was NEVER supposed to tell you what to do. It was simply supposed to represent our people internationally, settle disputes between States and keep the States from suppressing the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. End of story. Making of laws and provisions for taxation were to be used for those purposes.
All rights not specifically mentioned in the Constitution are guaranteed to YOU. The 9th Amendment reads as follows from Wikipedia:
“Ninth Amendment: declares that the listing of individual rights in the Constitution and Bill of Rights is not meant to be comprehensive; and that the other rights not specifically mentioned are retained elsewhere by the people.”
By the People. Not their governing representatives. The Federal Government cannot take a Right from the people by legislating it away. That is not their right.
They may make laws, but they may NOT interfere with the absolute Right of the people to freely enjoy WHATEVER rights were available to them upon the signing of the Constitution of the United States that were not changed by Amendment to that same document. The U.S Code doesn’t supercede this..regardless of what judges and lawyers have decided. It can’t. The Constitution never gives that Right. In fact, the Constitution, as mentioned above..is clear about who is the true OWNER of those rights. It is the People.
Since “the People” in that same document, the absolute Supreme Law of our land, refers to all generations of Americans, the legislature has NO POWER to take away from a future generation or a current generation ANY of the freedoms that were enjoyed by our Founding Fathers at the time the document was signed without Amending the Constitution itself. Period.
Technology and it’s advance..again...do not change that. The ability to go where I will..at will is guaranteed me by the Constitution. The fact that I do it in a car, not on a horse..does NOT give the government the right to interfere with that right by regulating the activity of driving. Nor should the withholding of our tax monies be a clever way around our absolute right to freedom.
Creating new technology is NOT a loophole in American Freedoms. And what sort of American would look for such loopholes anyhow?
What sort of American would try to take away a single one of our freedoms in the name of..well you name it: security, convenience, expense..lives. We don’t do that..not Americans. I’m not sure what these people are that are doing this to our country. They aren’t Americans..that’s for sure. They are crooks snatching candy from the mouths of our grandchildren. They are rapists, defiling our dignity..suppressing our pride. Dictators of thought defining our day to day existence in such a mindlessly greedy and efficient manner that no Founding Father would recognize these as their countrymen..nor their right to be in power.
No doubt, the mighty Jefferson would have cringed at our complacency and our complicity in creating this absurd mess.
“Ever vigilant” that’s what they asked us for. C-SPAN is a snoozer..there’s a ball game on.
“Land of the free. Home of the brave”, they inspired us. And so we forget that we are in control and give up our rights to liars and thieves..in the name of fear and from the depths of indifference.
We are the greatest enemy our nation has ever faced. Our fear of change. Our fear of poverty. Our fear of death. Our fear..in this land of once brave and mighty spirits. You are afraid of change...and I am tired of this spiral into the stagnation and death of our beloved nation..
This cannot go on. Our descendants must breath freely from outside of this box. And they should be able to do so in the country of my birth, the land that I love. They must be born truly American..and so we must be reborn American, soon.
We’re not getting any younger..and it’s not getting any better. And they’re coming soon. What do we want for them? For our babies? For their lives and their spirits, their imaginations and their aspirations? Do we want to lock them away within the narrow walls of our own lack of foresight? Within our factory walls and our office cubicles? Is that the freedom they were promised by our country’s founding document? Should they always have to ask the State for permission to be what they choose to be in this country? Should they have to go along with the plan in order to be a part of American Society?
What happened to freedom of choice? What happened to their freedom to express what they are? Who would take that from them by fencing them in with rules and regulations galore?
What country is this anymore?
The best to you from outside but inside the box,
daf
